How do you enter giving change from a different account for a cash sale? QB Mac 2012

US QuickBooks for Macintosh : 2012

I have a service based medical practice where I usually get paid by credit card or check. But, I had a patient pay with cash today and they overpaid by $5. As I don't keep a cash register, I had to take $5 out of petty cash to give her change. The cash depodit will go into my checking account and I am sitting here trying to figure out how to do this. I just switched from QB Pro 2010 for Windows and it told you that there was an overpayment and if you wanted to refund the customer or keep it as a credit. I don't see that on the Mac version (along with lots of other things!).

You should have recieved the same indication from QB Mac whenreceiving payments greater than the invoiced amount, assuming you are using invoices. From there you would get the option to creat a credit memo, from the top of the credit memo select refund, from the next window select your petty cash account and complete the payment.
