How do I transfer an Excel Spreadsheet to Quickbooks

We are new to quickbooks. I have an excel spreadsheet that I update every day. I want the information from the spreadsheet to transfer to quickbooks. I do I save that spreadsheet into a quickbooks form, so that I won't have to type all of that info

Importing of information into QuickBooks from an Excel spreadsheet is very limited. You can use iif file, however, unless you have done this before and are familiar with them I suggest you use third party import software. see link. it is easier than searching through your company file for transactions that did not go where you wanted them.

The solution

There are some 3rd Party software solutions that will transfer data from an Excel format into QuickBooks.  One is Big Red Consulting's IIF Transaction Creator.

http://www.bigredconsulting.com/AboutCreator.htm

You can find others here: http://marketplace.intuit.com/Default.aspx

But I'm curious, why are you entering in Excel first, why not just enter into QuickBooks initially instead of doing twice the work?

Donna

Donna,

We've always used excel, but our CPA just told us that we should use quicken because it would be "easier." The problem is that I would have to enter 7 months of info into quicken manually and it's becoming very time consuming.

The first question is do you have QuickBooks? The second is does your "accountant" use QuickBooks or Quicken?

Quicken and QuickBooks are two completely different programs.

If you are trying to use QuickBooks and import all of these transactions then I would definitely recommend getting a 3rd Party solution as described above.

Good luck to you,

Donna
