how do i set up a piece work employee

I have an employee who's paid by the mile. L&I calls it piece work. How do I set them up when they are not hourly or salary

Hi there!
QuickBooks Online Payroll does not have a piecework Pay item but as a work around you can use a Hourly item that you can describe with the piecework name.
The piecework rate would be considered the Hourly Pay Rate and the pieces completed will be considered the hours.
Example: Employee gets paid $0.25 per box built. Employee builds 150 boxes.
Hourly rate = $0.25
Hours = 150
150 x. 25 = $37.50
