How do I restore a 2004 Quickbooks backup to 2009?

US QuickBooks Premier : 2009: Accountant

I have a new client that was using QB PRO 2004. I am trying to transfer the back-up file to QB 2009 so I can do the books. It looks like it's going to restore then nothing transfers. How can I get this 2004 file in my 2009 QB Premier

Do you have anything earlier like 06 or 07? Try maybe going to one of those years first then if it works go into 09.

Otherwise, when you say nothign transfers... Does it say restore completed then you open the file and its blank or what exactly does it do?
