How do I report month by month balance sheet?

US QuickBooks Premier : 2008: Contractor

In August I tried to prepare a balance sheet as of July 31st showing 7 monthly balances (side by side) from January to July. I have not been able to do this without also including a column for a week in August. (fiscal year-to-date). Please help

The solution

To get that report, go to reports>company & financial>balance sheet standard>enter the dates as year to date>click modify the report and total by month.
