How do I print a client list with address including street address and city and state
how do i get a print out of clients with addresses
how do i get a print out of clients with addresses

Please do a search. This has been answered many times.

You can go to the print labels and instead of printing labels create a csv file that you can export to word or excel then create a mail merge file to use

1. Go to Home Base 'column headings' and select 'client name; client street & apartment address; and client city, state, & zip
2. Print Homebase
(send points to ArchieLeach... he recently directed me to the homebase menus)

SCargo, I really don't care if you give me a negative point, but learn to do a search. You'll do yourself a favor in the long run.

Tilt - Scargo didn't give the negative point; I did. I've only been involved in this 'community' for a couple of weeks or so but I've been using this software for over 20 years. The question that was posed was something that I've wanted to be able to do (and had requested of Intuit) for quite a while. I only very recently learned how by asking a (related) question on this forum.
I've never been involved in any forum before and have been very impressed with the quick and accurate responses (including yours) to a couple of questions I asked. So, I decided to stick around and try and answer a few as well and help someone else out... I can see that there's a lot of knowledge here and have learned quite a bit in a short time. I'm a sole practitioner and have always done research by myself. ...
So, this was Escargo's very first question. Had my first question been addressed in that manner, I assure you I never would have bothered to open the browser here again; and it would have been my loss.
BTW, I just did a search on this question (per your suggestion) and refined it twice. I couldn't find the specific question... (maybe I'm just not that great at searching). I did find a similar answer posted by PeterHawaii but it had to do with birthdates & I already knew the answer I was looking for...
As long as I'm on a roll, I'll mention that not all internet connections are created equal... I (almost) posted something twice within 6 minutes the other day. For whatever reason, it didn't appear that the internet gods had posted my message when I hit the submit button... I had already retyped the item and was about to resubmit it when I accidentally hit the back button and voila; there is was...
Tilt, you have lots of points and have answered far more questions than I can reasonably hope to. I can see that you do this with the best of intentions and a great deal of knowledge. I didn't participate in the strike talks today, but someone, referred to you as a 'den mother.' I took that as a strong compliment. Hope you're not offended, but a little more tolerance for us newbies, please.
-Bruce

Skylane, I understand your point but a simple search turned this up almost immediately.
http://community.intuit.com/posts/client-list-print-question-in-proseries-basic
Now although this particular answer addresses Basic, the same thing applies to Pro. I still believe that more folks need to learn to search instead of just coming here for a quick fix. A vast majority of information is also available at the ProSeries website. I mean, come on, asking us for release dates? Or where to go for the download? If they know how to find us here, they obviously didn't stumble across us. That means they've been to the website and are capable of seeing the other links besides us. I'm not offended by someone who communicates in a rational way. But I will still stand by this post:
http://community.intuit.com/posts/a-little-thing

Tilt and Skylane,
I can see valid points in both your arguments. Some newbies truly need a little handholding, but then there's that old truism about giving a man a fish vs. teaching him to fish. Maybe a good compromise in grey areas like this would be to provide the link to the answer, but not the answer itself. Just sayin'

Yesterday during the strike I had a few newbies email me to ask me a question because they were afraid to post on the forum.

Tilt - There is no doubt that in a short time I've seen a few questions that have made me question the 'skill level' of some preparers and whether others are just plain lazy... Intuit makes it very easy to find the community... every time you open the program.. (and that may be a good thing... I can see how Intuit gets as much benefit from the community as its users).
So, I have no problem with the point your are making; just the harsh manner... Maybe the advisory committee (whatever that is) can define a welcome letter of, sorts, that can be posted the with the response to an initial inquiry explaining the scope and parameters of the community and maybe a few suggestions.

I'm trying to export name and address from either home base or from mail labels into excel so that I can print (mail/merge) envelopes vs mailing labels. Pro Series support informed me today that I can only export the default home base listing (address not included).. and that a modified home base cannot be exported. The print mailing label option can only be printed to paper/labels... not to a pdf file.
Considered a workaround where I would add the address to the exported home base listing... but that list shows client name as last, first, middle.. so modifying list at excel level would be extensive.
Anyone have suggestions other than the obvious.... use labels.

Jack - Have you tried opening ProSeries, going to File, Print Options, (then on the left under Global Print Options) click on Printer, PDF, and DMS Setup and then on the right you can change the label printer to PDF instead of your printer.

Beth - Thank you for the suggestion. I'm in ProSeries Professional. The Printer and File Set up Screen allows me to check the PDF box (doesn't seem to allow me not to have any printer choice). However, when, at the Print Screen I uncheck printer box and check PDF box and then proceed to the Print Labels screen, Printer box is still checked and only box available. PDF and DMS boxes are greyed out.

Jack,
Go to HomeBase. On the dropdown menu, choose "Column Headings." In the "Choose Columns" window, deselect all columns except client name and address Then go back to the menu and click on "Save View As....", and give it a name From now on, every time you open HomeBase, that list will be one of your options.
SORRY, I MISREAD YOUR QUESTION. I DON'T THINK THAT THERE IS ANY WAY TO DO WHAT YOU'RE ASKING WITHOUT A WHOLE LOT OF FILE CLEANUP AT THE END, BECAUSE I KNOW OF NO WAY TO EXPORT A CUSTOM VIEW FROM HOMEBASE.

Archie... that was my impression after talking with Pro Series support. Just wanted to be sure that the support rep was not overlooking a workaround. Thanks.
There is a workaround, however it does involve a bit of "cleanup" of the Excel version of the file...
I did it and helped someone else do it as well... I can't find my response right now but I know I responded on the board somewhere... I'll look around and come back...
Found it, here it is:
Go into your ProSeries directory found on your hard drive (for me it's my C:\ drive); next go into the Homebase folder, copy the FDI.dbf file to another folder so you do not change the original file (you might need to change folder settings to view file extensions). Next, open up Excel, click on File>Open and make sure you are viewing "All Files" (not just Excel files). You should see your copy of the FDI.db file. Select it and Excel will open it up.
Remember, you have to clean it up a bit... but once you do... the possibilities are endless! I have mailing lists, mail merge, exported to a database to run different reports, etc. I love it!

Maria -
Your suggestion worked fine. Minimal work to make the resulting excel file workable for envelopes/mail merge. Bless you!!!!

Maria, we'd all give you points if we could.
aww... thanks tilt :)
