Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). How can I configure Lacerte to look for w09.ini in a different folder?

Lacerte

We use Roaming Profiles in our Windows environment.  The application stores the per user settings in c:\docs and settings\user\local settings\app data\lacerte\w09tax.ini.  The "local settings" directory is excluded from roaming profiles by the Windows Server OS. 

If the user's ini files were stored in c:\docs and settings\users\app data\lacerte\w09tax.ini the settings will roam correctly.

I have been able to make the w09tax.ini file roam successfully but I need to know how to configure Lacerte 2009 to look for the file in a different location.

We have fought this battle for several weeks now and talked to some high level Lacerte engineers.  The bottom line is Lacerte blew it when they said they made the program friendly to Citrix.  They forgot about roaming profiles.  We had to use log in scripts to move the files lacertehostname.ini and w09tax.ini before the program launches.  We abandoned that when we found a program called AppSense that manages environment variables and profiles.  You may want to talk to our Tech dept.
