HomeBase always needing to be updated.

ProSeries

First all the clients disappear from the 1040 tab. Then the menu on the left side disappears. Then HomeBase Maint keeps reporting that "27 files found whose HB records need to be updated." Is anyone else having similar problems?

No, but it makes me wonder what is going on with your computer.  Have you done a reboot?  How about some basic maintenance?  Programs> accessories> system tools> disk cleanup and/or defrag.  Then do your HB & DB tuneups.  Unless you're doing something weird, this should really clean things up for you.

Hail Cleo-Cat-Tra, Queen of Denial. I didn't do it.

Tilt53 knows a lot more about this stuff than I do, but I can tell you with certainty -- if her suggestions don't work, it means a trip to the Tech Support Emergency Room for you.

Does your system meet all the requirements to run ProSeries? Have you done all the recent updates to windows? What operating system are you using?

Database Maintenance: Files Were Found Whose HomeBase Records Need to be Updated Did this answer your question? Yes, it did...
No, it didn't... Yes, it did... Optional suggestions or feedback for this article: No, it didn't... Please let us know how we can improve this article:     Problem Description

When running Database Maintenance it says that all of the HomeBase records need to be updated.

Solution Description

One of the things Database Maintenance does is to compare the date on client files with the information stored in HomeBase. When there is a difference, this message can occur. Common reasons for the dates to be different are:

  • Storing files on a server and sharing files between more than one stand-alone install of ProSeries. Depending on the nature of your practice you may find the best way to correct this is to use a ProSeries network install. (A network license is required to install ProSeries as a network.)
  • Backing up files with third party software.
  • Changes in the system clock on the computer.

Use Database Maintenance to fix the date discrepency. It will update HomeBase without changing or deleting the client files.

Only installed on one computer - no sharing. Do a auto backup each night. Tried rebooting, clearing up some space on the HD, only have about 5g free. After the "Fix it" takes place, I do a recheck and it againg says it needs fixed again. Does this situation hurt anything? Can I just ignore the message? Most of the time the menu bar does show up on the left.

The solution

I have found that after I Database Maintenance the 1040s "all files need to be updated" and then I close that screen. If I try another Database Maintenance 2 seconds later I am again told that "all files need to be updated." Ignore it.
