I am setting up QB for our school. How do I go about setting up accounts for our families? I would need to recored charges and payments for tuition, lunch and after school care. I would also like to print a report for each of these categories.
Here's how I do schools.
Each FAMILY is a Customer. Each CHILD is a Job. Each individual Child (Job) charges are recorded. Then you can run statements to the FAMILY showing each Child's activity.
Just remember when receiving the Payment from the FAMILY, it will include ALL the kids. Record each payment to each CHILD. So one check may split when recording - each portion gong to each Child.

Thank you Debbie. I do have a few questions. For instance, if a parent wants to know the balance of their childs lunch account or after school care, can I print a report that seperates each?
Allow me to add - when creating your charges, be sure to have separate invoices for Each type of charge. Weekly for the after school care for example and another for the lunches. Then it will show these separately on the statement.
If you combine all charges on one invoice - that one invoice amount will show on the statement. When you get a call - they parent may want to know the breakdown. I just run a Sales By Item Summary report filtered for that family.
