HELP: how do I delete payments in quickbooks?

HELP, how do I delete payments in quickbooks? I put in duplicate invoices, deleted them, deposited & deleted the deposits, but I cannot actually delete the payment. This strikes me as a basic task but I cannot seem to find how to do it. I've done everything I can think of, and am getting sick of looking at the payments that don't actually exist except in quickbooks.
