H505 Error

Im having problems with one of the PC I just installed in a multi host environment. Company files are located in the server. I have 2 pc already connected and they work fine. This is a new XP which we installed Quickbooks 2007 and did all the updates. However, when opening data it shows this H505 error:

" You are trying to work with a company file that is located on another computer, but that computer needs additional installation and setup (H505) "

Thanks

What do you mean by a multi-host environment?

This is a good QB Knowledgebase article
http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/pages/knowledgebasearticle/1005295

The links at the end are there.

Errors: "H101," "H202," "H303," and "H505"
What is happening
When opening a company file in multi-user mode, an error occurs indicating one of the following:

You're trying to work with a company file located on another computer, and this copy of QuickBooks can't reach the server on that computer. (H202)
You're trying to work with a company file located on another computer, and that computer needs additional installation and setup. (H101, H303 and H505)

Why is this happening
QuickBooks is trying to establish a connection to the company file and can't communicate with the server. Several issues can cause these errors:

Hosting configuration settings are incorrect.
The firewall is blocking incoming or outgoing communication to the company file.
The .ND file is damaged or incorrect.
QuickBooks can't obtain the IP address of the system or server hosting the company file.

Detailed Instructions
Errors that occur while setting up or working in multi-user mode can be time-consuming to diagnose and correct. To help investigate and resolve the error, Intuit recommends downloading the Network Diagnostic Tool, which analyzes whether your computer and network connection are set up properly for multi-user mode. If the tool doesn't help you resolve the error, you can return to this article and try the solution described here.

Select the option below that best fits your situation:

If only one computer is generating the error, reestablish a connection through TCP/IP settings. This often resolves the error and you don't need to continue with the remaining tasks.
If more than one computer is generating the error, work through the tasks below for the server first and then for client workstations. After each task, check to see if the error recurs before moving on to the next task.

Server tasksEnsure that QuickBooks is installed on the server.
1.Click the Windows Start button and choose All Programs > QuickBooks.
2.If QuickBooks or QuickBooks DatabaseServer Manager doesn't appear in the list, it means the program is not installed. Refer to Installing and configuring QuickBooks for a multi-user or network environment.
Important: QuickBooks 2007 and later includes a Server Only installation method for file servers. Refer to Install the QuickBooks server for these instructions.

If QuickBooks is installed, ensure that hosting mode is set to local files only.
1.Open QuickBooks.
2.Press F2 to open the Product Information window.
3.Check that in Local Server Information area in the lower left corner, Hosting is set to local files only.
4.If it is not (off appears instead), choose File > Utilities > Host Multi-user Access. QuickBooks closes the company file and reopens it.
5.Press F2 to open the Product Information window again and verify that Hosting is now set to local files only.

If QuickBooks Database Server Manager is installed, restart the QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
1.Click the Windows Start button, choose Run and enter services.msc in the Open field.
2.Click OK.
3.Right-click QuickBooksDB20 (2010), QuickBooksDB19 (2009), QuickBooksDB18 (2008), or QuickBooksDB17 (2007) and select Stop.
4.Right-click QuickBooksDB20 (2010), QuickBooksDB19 (2009), QuickBooksDB18 (2008), or QuickBooksDB17 (2007) and select Start.
5.Close the Services window.

Delete and re-create the .ND file.
1.Ensure that extensions for known file types appear in Windows Explorer:
a.Right-click the Windows Start button and choose Explore > Tools > Folder Options.
b.Click the View tab and clear the Hide extensions for known file types checkbox.
c.On the View tab, select Show hidden files and folders and clear the checkbox for Hide protected system operating files.
d.Click Yes at the warning and click OK.
e.Close Windows Explorer.
2.Delete the .ND file:
a.Search for *.ND.
b.In the Results window, right-click the .ND file and choose Delete.
c.Confirm the deletion.
3.Recreate the .ND file using Database Server Manager Scan utility:
a.Click the Windows Start button and choose All Programs > QuickBooks > QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
b.Click the Scan Folder tab.
c.Click the Add Folder button and browse to the folder containing the company file.
d.Select the folder containing the company file and click OK. The path to the folder appears in the Folders that contain QuickBooks company files field.
e.Click Scan to start the scanning process.
f.After the scan completes, click Close.

Client workstations tasksBe sure that client computers are not trying to host the company file.
1.Open QuickBooks on each client computer.
2.Press F2 to view the Product Information window.
3.Check that in the Local Server Information area in the lower left corner, Hosting is set to Off.

If hosting mode is anything other than Off, switch hosting modes.
1.Log in to QuickBooks as Administrator.
2.Choose File > Utilities > Stop Hosting Multi-user Access.
3.When the message Do you want to stop hosting multi-user access to company files? appears, click Yes.
4.When the message QuickBooks must close the company file and re-open in single-user mode. Do you want to continue? appears, click Yes.
5.Press F2 to view the Product Information window and ensure that Hosting is set to Off.
If the error persists, reestablish a connection through TCP/IP settings.

If this solution does not resolve the issue, you can read discussions and post messages and questions relating to your issue on the Intuit QuickBooks Community site. You can also review other available QuickBooks support options for additional guidance.
