Grayed out home screen
I have a grayed out home screen and can't navigate anywhere. I'm running Quickbooks 2006. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

The first step would be to reboot. Please post back and give an update.
Tried rebooting but that did not work. Just updated all virus scanning software and doing a complete scan as well.

QB2006 is quite old. Have you thought of updating?
What operating system are you on? QB 2006 won't run on Win 7. What IE do you have? IE9 hasn't been playing nice with any versions, much less older ones.
Came up with a few adware but nothing malicious.
Even though I was maxed out on installs, I tried re-installing and it let me do that.
I immediately backed up everything and that too worked. SAVED! That's for trying.
Good luck! You may want to consider upgrading to a newer version, since 2006 is no longer supported. You may also want to wait a couple of months until 2012 comes out. But always make sure you've got a good backup.
Since you're up and running, in QB go to file>utilities>verify data (do that twice), then file>utilities>rebuild data, then verify again. Once a week you should do verify.
