Gopayment credit card reader won't swiped...

GoPayment

My Gopayment credit card reader will not read the credit card when swiped, I can only type in the account number. I purchased at Verizon wireless and I returned it. They gave me a new one, and still I cannot get it to swipe the credit card. I have to key in the credit card/ customer name/ etc. And I have my volume up high and still does not work.

I have a Samsung Fascinate smart phone. I followed the instructions in the pamplet that came with the credit card reader. I downloaded the gopayment application, it told me to turn up the volume, and that is it.

When I attempt to swipe the card, nothing happens. I turn the card around, thinking I swiped it the wrong way, and still nothing happens. So I have to key it in. When keying in the account, I am now charged a higher rate instead of the 2.7%

No where on the pamplet does it say you have to enable to swiper. What does that mean?

Hello KathyBart,

I hope you find the steps below helpful in troubleshooting your card reader.  The phone you are using is compatibly and we should be able to get the card reader working by following the steps below.

Verify the card reader is enabled properly if using an Android:

Step 1 Connect the Intuit Card Swipe device to the phone.  You may have to remove phone covers.  The device will click once in place.

Step 2 Turn the Audio Jack to full volume.

Step 3 Open the GoPayment application on your mobile phone.

Step 4 Click Menu on your phone

Step 5 Tap on the check box next to Swiper Enabled

Step 6 Click Choose Device and choose the Audio Jack Swiper

Step 7 Click menu on your phone and click the Get Paid icon

Be advised you will be prompted to swipe the card when charging a card with the swiper enabled.

If you continue to get an error when trying to swipe a card, please try the following:

Step 1 Press menu on your phone > go to Settings > Sound > Verify your media volume is all of the way up

Step 2 Go back to Settings > Call > Verify TTY mode is off

Step 3 Open your browser on your phone > press menu > more > settings> clear cookies, history and cache

Step 4 Connect the card reader > open GoPayment > try to swipe the card again

Step 5 If the above steps do not work Uninstall the GoPayment application and reinstall the application

Step 6 Enable the card reader

At this time we do not offer a card reader that is compatible for the HTC Radar.

We update our list of supported phones with new devices as soon as they have passed through rigorous testing to ensure stability and functionality. To view a complete list of phones compatible with the Grey Intuit Credit Card Reader, please go to the following website: www.gopayment.com and click See All Devices. To view a complete list of phones compatible with the White Intuit Credit Card Reader, click See All Devices, then I Already have a White Intuit Credit Card Reader at the bottom of the window.

Please note, if your phone or device is not compatible with the Intuit Credit Card Reader, you may still download the application and manually enter your transactions.  The Operating System requirements for use of the GoPayment application are listed below.  You can find your phone or device’s Operating System in the “About” section of the Settings menu.

Minimum Operating System Requirements

·         iPhone/iPod/iPad – iOS V3.2

·         Android – V2.1

·         Blackberry – V4.7
