Getting new Business

Fairly new to owning my own business and I need some help figuring out the best way to go about getting new clients. The two I have right now are from past employment.

Thanks

Ship, The best referral for new clients to to get the word out to your exisiting client base.

Talk with them casually and let them know that you are looking for additional work. This

is also a great time to review the job performance and duties that you are providing to

them. Clients always want to talk about themselves, so listen to their needs, you may

pickup additional services in this visit with them.

In addition, I am on a our Local Chamber of Commerce board. The Chamber is always

helpful in this area. You can get a rooster of the client listed with the Chamber and do

a generic mailing to those clients. Example. I see that you are a Chamber Member and I

would like introduce myself, blah blah blah............

If you existing clients are loyal and like what you do for them, it is possible that they may

allow you to use them as a reference in any mailings you choose to do. ALWAYS ask

their permission first.

Good Luck and hope the above is helpful......

I have found that speaking for various networking and small business groups is a great way to share tips and generate additional business. For example, top 5 things that small businesses can do to save themselves $$$ at tax time or whatever topic you are knowledgeable about generates interest...shares a little information and gets them wanting to know more. Writing articles for publications and posting on your website is another great way to generate interest as well. They don't have to be long...short, sweet and dangle the carrot to get them wanting to know more details!

Thank you!
