Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

Form 199 California - Supported by Proseries?

Does ProSeries support California Exempt Org Return Form 199? I see the corresponding Federal 990 Form, but I don't see the california form 199

That's correct. ProSeries does not support any state version of the Federal 990. If I recall correctly, Lacerte does support the California Form 199.

ProSeries DOES support the California form 199, but for reasons that defy any logic, you must access it through the Federal Corporate (1120) tax forms. So, you have to first do a 990, then do a Federal 1120 putting in the same information, then go to the California Form 100, then on the information worksheet, click on the check box for form 199.

If anyone from ProSeries can elucidate on why this form is not accessible from the 990, we would all love to hear the answer.

In a similar vein, PS has Philadelphia city returns accessible through the 1040 but not the partnership or corporate programs, yet those entities can be required to file BPTs or NPTs. Why can't those programs also have those forms?

If you use Pro Series Basic I might not be able to help you. If you use Turbo Tax I might refuse to help you. All others, watch out! ;-)
