For Wino - Form 5405

ProSeries

Moving our discussion to a different thread.

Wino posted:

"By the way, when can we expect to be able to EFile Form 5405?

I have already lost a client to my competion, over that issue. "

Moderator_Lisa posted:

"Wino,

About Form 5405:

There was a ProSeries/1040 update last night. When I created a return with Form 5405 I no longer get the final review message that the form cannot be e-filed.

If you can try to file a return, that would be great. My resources for a definative answer are working on the script error. :) I'll certainly try to get an answer a little later today."

Wino posted:

"No error message on 5405 with $7500, 2008 credit

But still get the EFile error message on the $8000, 2009 credit

It says can not EFile this return because 5405 amount exceeds the $7500 limit

Cleary this is just a programing issue, to do with the error checking side.

When you did your test, did you use a purchase date in 2008 or 2009?"

I used a date acquired of 02/02/09 and the form calculated the $8000 credit.

My form calculates the $8000, also, with no problem

But there is an error message saying the return can not be EFiled because 5405 amount exceeds the $7500 limit

Is your "test return" set up for EFile or Mail?

Too much income on my first return. Second return I tried still gets the message about e-file. Darn.

I have a client that I cannot efile yet because of the same error message. Please try to clear up this matter before I loose them to a competitor. They just purchased the home last week and need this money for some repairs they would like to complete. Thanks so much for all of the teams efforts in correcting these changes.

The Final Review message in ProSeries is still correct, unfortunately. We are waiting for the IRS to be able to accept an electronically filed return with Form 5405 with a credit over $7500.

You may want to consider mailing these returns.
