I am curious how to setup and use QB for my Firearms training business. I would like to have Classes listed by date and each student listed under that class. Also would like to accommodate running a report that shows how much students paid along with expenses for class (i.e. Class Room Rental, advertising and Student Materials).

Students are Customer names.
The Classes you hold can be Items. There is a function called Class in QB that is used to crossreference income and expense. For you, this might literally be Class, so you can track and report income against expenses. So, you would sell the student Class fee for the Hunter Prelicense class and also "class track" this as part of Hunter Prelicense income and costs.
The Classroom date can be managed by using Ship Date on the sale forms, but retitle it.
You would Class Track all your expense transaction details.
