Filter limitation in Report Center..Please confirm

When filtering Sales Order By Item, my 2 added columns within MY custom sales order template are not available in Modify Tabs. This is a limitation of QB. Can someone confirm that only the available fields in Modify Tabs are available? Do later versions (> 05')allow you to sort by user created columns within the users custom template?Thank you.(first time posting)

Are the columns you added to the sales order template custom fields you created for items? If so, it works fine for our clients (as long as you populate the fields in the item records). If you're using the QB "Other" fields in the template to add data, they're useless, you cannot get reports on them.
