Filing Date Lock In
When I print a return that I filed some period of time ago, like 2008, the date on the return is the current date. How do I make the return retain the date that I filed return?

If your Preparer options are set at :"print date on return" then the date will change. If you want to set a fixed date you have to override the date box.
When a client asks for another copy at a later date, I look at the Client Status sheet for the date I completed the return and I override the date on the 1040.
If you use PS Basic then I don't know if what I said still counts.
If you use Pro Series Basic I might not be able to help you. If you use Turbo Tax I might refuse to help you. All others, watch out! ;-)

I believe AM is correct - you would have to override the date if you don't want the current date printed. Personally, I went with the "no print" option so I don't have dates printed on any of my returns.
