This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! FICA withholding using new tables for employees already over income limit

US Desktop Payroll : Enhanced 2008

The help accompanying the new withholding tables says the income limit for FICA withholding has increased. We have several employees who have already exceeded the previous limit (i.e. maxed out their FICA). However, if the limit has now increased, I would think there should be additional FICA withholding for those employees--they and the employer will owe additional FICA withholding for the difference in income limits. QB is not calculating additional FICA withholding for these employees. How can this be fixed?

The FICA limit for 2009 remains at $106,800. This took effect on January 1, 2009. This did not change as a result of the new withholding tables, so I am not sure where you saw that the wagebase limit had been increased. The 2008 base was $102,000, so there was an increase in 2009.

I hope this helps. Let us know by marking this post as “Solved” or “Helpful”,
