ERROR in Viewing Forms

When I first open the Lacerte 2008 program, I get a print error. However, I can clear that and continue to access the detail screen. However, when i click on Forms to process the tax return i get the following errors:

Exception in InitProcessing Catastrophic Failure

Exception dispatching message:ID:1127

Access violation at address:00819679 in module 'w08tax.exe' Read of address 0000000

I have completely uninstalled Lacerte several times and reinstalled it with no change.

I also set up a dummy file in 2007 and proforma it to 2008 and that TEMPORARILY fixes the problem but the problem does return. I then have to proforma the dummy file again.

I don't understand why this is happening because 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 versions of Lacerte are working fine without any problems. Why does 2008 have a problem? The processing environment has not changed, just the new version of Lacerte for 2008.

I called systems support and they told me that it was my computer that was at fault and that I should find the cause of the problem myself. They said that their software works fine and apprantly they take no responsiblity for the problem.

What should I do now? Since Lacerte advised me that I should fix the problem myself, I could use any assistance possible.

Thanks and PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Do you have a valid printer selected in your option file? A physical printer that can print from Lacerte? The print error is a clue. Viewing forms on screen errors can be tied to a printer problem also (surprise).

I checked the options setting in Lacerte and do have a designated printer assigned in Lacerte 2008.

However, the problem with the error messages and inability to view forms continues to exist.

I still need help as Lacerte Technical Support will not help me.

I have been having the same problem also. Finally got ahold of systems escalation at support. He got it fixed for me. He said it was a RAM problem. I have 1 gig, he said that is their minimum and would suggest I stick another 1 gig of ram in it.

What he did to fix it was to change how much RAM, java was using in lacerte. When he lowered that number, it worked.

Lacerte is a huge memory hog. And it gets worse as the years go by. I had to upgrade my RAM. System requirements for 2009 are as follows: http://lacerte.intuit.com/prod...
