error condition

ProSeries : 2011

I am trying to e-file for a client and get an error that says "missing or incorrect preparers tax id number (PTIN) or missing employer's ID Number (EIN). You must complete the firm/preparers info." I am a single practitioner and have enterd my SS #.

If you haven't gotten your PTIN yet, you're not supposed to be able to e-file on behalf of a paying client. If you have gotten your PTIN, there is a way in the Lacerte program to enter it into "settings, options, preparers" and I suspect ProSeries has something similar.

Back up before it's too late. For a professional answer, call Tech Support at 1-800-933-9999 (Lacerte)(other numbers ProSeries, QB, or TurboTax). I am a volunteer, not compensated or supported by Intuit.
