Thank you for posting your question, ray12.

I am sorry to read that you are having this issue.  You mentioned that this just suddenly started, and that may make sense.

You see, you may be dealing with a form of damage to a Microsoft component necessary to run QuickBooks.  I recommend the following:

  1. Start with this article:  Error -6209, 0: when updating Windows, installing QuickBooks, or trying to open a QuickBooks file
  2.  When you get to where the first article asks you to repair .net, run the tool found here: Fixing Microsoft .NET Framework, MSXML, and C++ issues

If this has resolved you issue, please mark the post as resolved.

If this has not resolved your issue, please respond to the post so that I may attempt to assist you further.

Thank you,

PAPLAD1

I tried all of the suggestions before I posted and nothing worked.  I finally just did a basic restore and it fixed it. But I'm still having problems when I try and save it says the error is "file exists"

Hi Ray,

I am not sure if I am completely following what error you are getting.

Can you please explain more?

William

OK...  as soon as I open QB I get this Quickbooks Backup error it says

"The following error occured while attempting to backup your data. QuickBooks encountered a problem attempting to Backup C:\users\public\documents\intuit\quicks\company files\(company name here)3.QBW drive specified could not be accessed"

Please refer to the QBBackup.log file for more details

then when I click ok I get a warning that says the file you specified cannot be opened. Make sure it is not currently being used by another program or a read only file. the windows error was "the file exist"

so I click ok again, but this time the message will not go away and there is another window behind this one that says Quick Books is updating files Please wait but it will not continue unless I continue to click the ok on the first one until the one behind it gets to 100% and Then finally I can open QB

I did not have any problem until the first problem in the very first post while a restore did help me to get that problem taking care of I now have this one.

The solution

Hi Ray,

Please contact us at 800.450.8475 to speak with an agent about your issue and they will help to get it resolved.

There are just too many different reasons why this might happen and it is difficult to diagnose over the forums. My first thought is a permission issue for the company files.

William
