Hello, Thanks for the fix, as you could tell internally the fix was available and we were waiting for approval before "releasing" an article with the exact instructions. As you noted this has been a troublesome issue for many people, and hopefully this post will resolve that problem. Thanks again, and this will be stickied at the top! Caleb

Our company uses QB Premier 2006, and our CD does not include the QuickBooks.msi file. What's the fix for us?

The installation completed normally, however when I tried to use quickbooks I got the error in the attachment. I then went to uninstall using the "Add/Remove" in control and executed the repair option which also completed successfully. Unfortunately I still received the error mentioned above. Please help.

Hello Jodykit, I sure can help you solve your issue! :) Error 1603 can be worked around just by following these simple steps. # Insert the QuickBooks installation CD. # Close any installation screen that displays automatically. # Open My Computer or Windows Explorer, and then open the contents of the CD drive. # Open the QBooks folder on the CD and double-click the QuickBooks.msi file. This will install QuickBooks without checking the version of Flash. You probably notice they look like the work around for version 8, which they are, but they should still do the trick. Let me know if they don't help you out. Thanks, Caleb

Hello rmartel, The error you posted above is different than the title of this post. The steps I was outlining above referred to recieving the error 1608 or Flash Player related errors. Your error has the keywork "LicenseUtility" and that could be the reason following the steps above didn't resolve the issue. I was able to locate his document on the QuickBooks support site: http://www.quickbooks.com/supp... I hope this helps, Caleb

I'm having this same problem. I have Flash 9.0 installed. If I try to install using the QuickBooks.msi, it wants my license and product info but I've gotten a New Business Starter Kit that has trial versions on it so I don't have this information.

Any ideas?

Sharon

Figured it out. Even though I uninstalled Flash from the Control Panel, I had to go into plugins for FireFox and get rid of the Flash plugin. Then I was able to run the setup for the trial program.

I had the problem with Flash 7 and solved it by closing everything, and accessing the QP installation disk via windows explorer. On the disk is a folder for Flash 7 and within the folder is the exe file for said Flash 7. Click it, it will install itself and then return to the original installation process. Voila!!

Hello,

We would love to help you out, but the message above can be a multitude of things. Most likely a scratched cd if the error is coming from trying to install QB from the disk.

Try to copy the cd and its entire contents onto your desktop and then run the setup.exe file on your desktop. That should work for you.

If it doesn't can you please frame the error message above with what was happening when you received the error message.

Welcome to the forum and hope to hear back from you soon,

Caleb

Hello,

QuickBooks 2005 (Enterprise 5.0): Currently requires Internet Explorer 6 and is not compatible with Internet Explorer 7 or higher. To continue to use QuickBooks 2005, do not upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 or higher version. If you have already upgraded, we recommend that you revert to Internet Explorer 6. QB is working on an update to QuickBooks 2005 to make it compatible with Internet Explorer 7 or higher.

To do this follow the steps below:

1. Revert back to Flash Player 6 from the website.
2. He/She received the same error.
3. Asked the customer to check the Add/Remove program screen, and check for any other
version of Flash Player.
4. He/She has Flash 9 already installed.
5. Uninstall Flash Player 9
6. Turn off Norton Antivirus.
7. Insert the QuickBooks CD, and walked through the Installation
Wizard.
8. Successfully restored the backup and opened the data file on this computer.

Hope it would help...

Did them all..yes ridiculously even tried to copy an entire CD to my desktop, thanks Guru, but no help. Good laugh though. Scratched CD? nope I tried another and got the same results. Anyway, did see a post that Guru is on the right page in that you should use the faithful window's explorer, but I chose a different file. If none of the suggestions worked. Maybe try mine...Find the folder QBooks on the CD. Double click on "setup.exe". Worked like a charm.

To install the Flash 7 file, follow this path:

>C (or other install drive)
>Program Files
>Intuit
>QuickBooks
>Third Party folder
>Flash7
>install_flash_player_7.msi

CLICK on the install_flash_player_7.msi file and

it self extracts. THEN install the QB setup files

and--voila--it all works PERFECTLY!!!!
