Entering Tithes under donations and recording as income
Hi all, I am the church treasurer for a small but growing church. I have been using QB non-profit 2006 to track the finances and Roll Call (for churches) to track the people and individual tithes/offerings. I want to put everything in Quickbooks but it doesn't sound very user friendly. I tried to entire last weeks offering in the donations field using our congregation as customers. When I went to enter the deposit it recorded the deposit from account "undeposited funds - other current asset". I currently post weekly offerings in the chart of accounts to "income - offerings/tithes". When it posts to "other current assets" it does not appear on the profit and loss report as income so it looks like this months expenses left the church in the black. I also cannot find an easy way to print an end of year tax letter to each member of the church with their list of tithes. Does anyone have the answer? Thank you!
