We are very new users of POS and are wondering how to handle gift certificates bought by our customers prior to POS and still valid. How can we enter the gift certificates into POS and not affect the retail sales amount for this year.
the pos interface does not validate gift certificate numbers entered on the receipt. So that shouldnt cause any problem in your case. validating that the certificate was issued at all or redeemed for the correct amount should be verified if you have the records to do so from your old system.
