Enter single time activity bug (seems like form not resetting correctly)

When entering single time activity in QB 2010 for Mac, when I go to "next" or "previous," the form is not resetting properly. As I scroll back to previously saved entries, it tells me they have changed and prompts me to save.

I just checked this in my company file, and using "Previous" several times in a row did not result in a message of any kind. Subsequently, using "Next" to go forward until I reached an empty new activity window generated no messages.

Make sure that your version of QB 2010 for Mac is updated to R2. If that isn't the issue, then perhaps you might need to shut down QB, delete its user-level preference file (in the Preferences folder of your user Library folder), and then relaunch QB.

Please post back to say whether this anomaly continues.

Thanks!  I am using R2.  I may not have been clear - try this:

1. enter a new single time activity with all fields filled out

2. click next.  You will get a form that is not completely blank

3. fill in a new activity with all fields blank

4. click previous.  You will see the first activity you entered, but with some fields (often notes) filled with the information from the 2nd activity.

5. click previous again.  You will see a save prompt, even thought you haven't changed anything.

There are other ways to get the error, but this is one example.

I am seeing what you're describing but only in the Notes field. The other fields seem to be okay.

BUG note to Intuit: This bug copies the Notes from a brand-new entry into the next or previous one if, as seannyc described, one uses the "Next" or "Previous" button upon completing the new entry. Once the entry is saved, the bug doesn't recur; it only happens at the time it's first entered and "Next" or "Previous" is used.

It seems to depend on which fields have info in them.  I just tried entering an activity without a note, and this time it was the "Service Item" that didn't reset.

Good to know that, seandnyc. I'm hoping (and expecting) that someone will notice this thread.

I was able to duplicate only the notes pre-filling on the next activity. Once new data is entered in the second one, I am able to click Next and/or Previous without hindrance.

seandnyc, can I ask you to explain in more detail? I wonder if using mouseclicks vs keystrokes is what causes this. In other words, do you Tab down through fields or use the mouse to click into a next field, etc? I'll keep trying it here and let you know.

I was able to duplicate it.   Jennifer I wrote you with details.   Thanks everyone - we'll get this fixed.

Until then - I think you can just delete the auto entered note (after you record the time entry) and then you'll be able to hit previous and next.

The only workaround is click "OK" and then go back in through the menu.  If you delete a field on the not-quite-blank form and then click "previous," if that previous form had the now-deleted field filled-in, as soon as you hit next/previous again, whammo.

I wrote a simple AppleScript, that makes it work correctly.  Feel free to read the details and copy it at http://seandenigris.com/.

I found that as long as I didn't say "OK" to the request to change the improperly altered previous or next single activity, then that activity would not be saved with the wrong information.
