This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! Enhanced Payroll

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2012

Enhanced payroll says:  Pay up to 3 employees and easily add more. If you have more than 3 employees, simply select "4 or more" employees when activating your software (additional annual fee applies). Our question is:  what is the additional annual fee?  WHAT DOES IT COST TO ADD MORE EMPLOYEES?  What is we have less than 4 employees?  Is there still an annual fee?

The solution

The enhanced payroll subscription (for the first year) is $236 for 3 or less employees, $316 for 4 or more (unlimited amount).  The difference ($80) is the additional annual fee.  After the first year, the rates go up.

You can opt for Basic (no tax forms) for $200 for the first year.

Sorry, your profile states you have 2012.  You'll have to upgrade to no earlier than 2010 (if you could find it).  Google for Pro 2012, it's been on sale lately for $100 to $126.  I I just saw it on Amazon for the best price.

Why would I want an older version? Costco has 2012 for $100.00 with a coupon. Is 2010 better?

Here is my real question.

I am now paying $395.00 for the enhanced payroll service. If I buy a new version of 2012 do I start at the rate of $80.00 or are they going to charge me the old rate of $350. I do my own payroll. This rate seems to be high just to get the few updates. What is my advantage to enhanced?

I didn't mean that you should necessary buy an older version; some people just don't want to pay any higher price for 2012.

2012 is much improved, go with that.

Payroll subscriptions are usually discounted for the first year; after that they all go to the same higher price.  Since your TIN is already registered with Intuit under your current payroll subscription, you will almost definitely have to continue with your current subscription price.

Have you considered one of the cheaper alternatives?  The basic programs (no tax forms included) are cheaper, you can compare them here:  http://payroll.intuit.com/comp...
