how can i get the report for employees wages in qb so i can compare it to their W2?

Try the Excel based report which is designed to show more details from a W2 point of view.
Go to employees | Payroll Tax forms & W-2's | Tax form worksheets in Excel and then run the W2 report. You'll see details of the items that make up Box 1 and other boxes and can even QuickZoom on the amounts to see the details.
