Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

Email remittance advice

QuickBooks UK

The batch sending of forms is a great facility, but the ability to e-mail remittance advices is still missing!

In these days of electronic payment, it's rediculous to print & post / fax a payment advice. The closest option is to use a free pdf printer and print individually to that, then create the e-mails seperately and attach the pdf files - way too clunky for a busy office / accounts function.

Given the engine is available, and has been since 2006 at least (bulk sending of customer statements), it can't be too dificult to sort out?

Please add this, as a maintenance release, soon.

Bri.

I agree.  I currently spend time creating a pdf file of each remittance advice and then emailing it.

I've just got the 2012 UK version and I am completely amazed that this feature is still completely absent.

Not only is the electronic version missing, but you can't even customise the printed remittance advice to make it look more professional, e.g. Payment Amount total to line up with line-item Payment field, unable to add company logo or change fonts, general graphical layout very amatuerish (of company information box; and Payment Date, No., Amount box; and huge Remittance Advice text); unable to add a simple comment...

And, you can only get a Remittance Advice if you use PayBills - you can't generate one from WriteCheques - I pay a lot of customers (refunds) and suppliers without putting them through the Suppliers/Creditors area.

I can remember the old MYOB program where all of this has been possible for years. Shame they left the UK market.

I bet Intuit make us all wait for the next paying upgrade.

We have also just installed the 2012 UK version and again I am disappointed that this is not available as a customisable form, however on the plus side I will say that 2012 is the best version they have issued since 2005 and not before time.   The Aussie versions were way ahead of this years ago.

We do 95% of our payments by BACS but we are only a small company - less than 30 BACS payments a month, and we do most of them in 2 batches.

I have used the Supplier Open Balance facility -ie. select supplier and do an open balance report and use the date filter to show only the bills you are paying (need to do this before you enter the "Pay Bills") to create a memorised report showing the invoices I am paying by BACS, and customised it to change the Report Title to say "Remittance Advice - BACS Payment", ticked on the Extra Footer line and in that field I manually type "BACS Payment Date: DD/MM/YY" and I amend this field each time I do a BACS batch (only twice a month) to put the BACS payment date of the batch.

By memorising the report each time I do a BACS batch (with the Extra Footer Line amended for the date) I can then simply use the filter option to filter each individual supplier open balance list of the invoices I am paying (remember to do this before you process the payment), to create a SIMPLE remittance advice which I can email direct from QB.

Not rocket science I know but it works OK for small businesses who don't need to email large batches of BACS payments in one go and for me is quicker than creating a pdf file for each payment.

Sadly this would only work with Suppliers, not with Write Cheques.
