E-mail Error while trying to use new Client Checklist

When trying to use the new E-mail Client Checklist feature, after the PDF file is created, I get a "Outlook SendMail Error" dialog box and the email is not created (although the PDF file does get created and saved). I uninstalled and reinstalled the program from both the disk and online and it did not solve the problem. I also loaded the program on my wife's PC to see if it was perhaps my computer causing a problem. I had the same error message with hers (plus on her computer I got the same problem with creating PDF files that has been discussed on other messages) We are both using XP Pro as our operating systems.I contacted Technical Services and they stated that others have reported the same problem and that they are working on a fix but they had no known date for the fix. I was a bit worried when I saw that the new email feature was working for some of you and thought it was just me (misery loves company in this case).Mike

Its not working for me either. I'm wondering if you have to provide the program with some information such as which email program and which email account to use.

Thanks for letting me know it didn't work for someone else. When I talked to Tech Support they had me look in my browser (i.e. Internet Explorer) to see what program I had selected as my mail program. To do that, open Windows Internet Explorer, go to the "Tools" pull down menu, select "options", to to the "Programs" tab, and see if you have Outlook selected as your email program. I did, so that was NOT the problem.

Update Pro and it should work. There was a fix in the update on the 28th.

I did download and install the update and it still does not work. Frustrating......... It does seem to work for some people though but not others. Acording to Tech Support, the update you speak of was to fix the pdf problem and not the inability to email the Client Checklist (but the update did not fix my 06 pdf problem either.

Now I am worried that the update fixed your problem but didn't do anything for my (or my wife's computer) to fix it for me.

I just want to clarify that before you installed the update, when you tried to create and email a client the new Client Checklist you got an "Outlook SendMail Error" dialog box and an email was not created that had the pdf file as an attachment but after you updated that error went away.

After I updated I still can not create an email either in batch mode from home base nor when working from an individuals open file. (Plus that I still can't create a pdf file within the 2006 version of proseries anymore -- which is not a huge deal for me because I saved them all to pdf at the end of last years season when the darn thing worked).

Thanks...I'm just trying to narrow this down some before I call Tech Support again.

i think you need to delete any proseries pdf drivers you have , and reinstall drivers from each year. at least give yourself the ability to create pdfs in general before you try emailing them.

Thanks EricFred. I do have the ability to create both a 2007 pdf copy of an actual tax file and, when I hit the "Save to PDF" button on the Client Checklist page (bottom right side of screen), a copy of the checklist for the client does get created and saved to the PDF folder. So it sure seems like the program does have the ability to CREATE the checklist but I just can't get the darn thing sent. I thought it might go to the "Draft" message folder within Outlook but it just does not exist anywhere.

Still frustrated that it works for some people and not for me (and I think others).
