Download keeps timing out. Help!

Lacerte : 2011

Tried to download the update. Hangs. As per the Lacerte support document, I deleted the temp files and the setup file in Systems path. Then tried to download from the Web. Just keeps timing out. What is going on? This is happening on two computers. Worked fine until know.  Any help appreciated.

Try using the Windows Start button. Select All Programs, Lacerte, 2011 Lacerte Web Setup.

This is essentially what you would get from My Account, but it is already on your computer. This is also how you would add states or modules. It generally works when the update hiccups.

Hmm??? Could I have been clearer when I asked that question? Did I mark the question solved after it was answered?

Thanks, but that doesn't work either. I even tried installing Lacerte from the Web on a computer that doesn't already have Lacerte on it. It timed out there too. I am wondering if the servers are down?? Everything worked fine for the update yesterday.

I had the same problem.  I had to disable my virus checker software to allow the download to work.

Another thought that occurs to me, is that maybe the "main computer" hooked up to the "main modem" gets signals a lot faster than the "secondary computer" whose modem connection is through a "router" coming from the modem.

I do notice that on my downstairs computer, hooked to a router, it always takes a lot longer for Internet stuff to come thru, especially Lacerte updates, than the time the same things take to get accomplished on my upstairs computer hooked directly to Comcast's modem.

Thanks. This is a pretty basic set up. There are two computers both hooked up to the same modem via ethernet. Files are not being downloaded to both computers at the same time. There is no router....just the modem. I have been been using the same set up all season and downloads were fine (and fast). The Wednesday downloads worked without a hitch and there were no software changes since then. The good news is that, as of this morning, the downloads worked again. All I can think is that it must have been some kind of server issue. As you can see (since I was able to post last night) my internet connection continued to work. Weird....
