how often can you pay yourself a dividend distribution. And how do you record those checks. We are an S Corp

I am a brand-new S-corporation, incorporated in Colorado. My accountant has advised me to take distributions no more frequently than monthly. He has also said that an officers meeting (documented) needs to authorize the distribution and the distribution check should indicate in the memo the check is for a 2010 distribution. I haven't actually done this yet, but will need to do a distribution within the next month.
