Destination folder of scanned documents

I see all the answers that you can't change the destination file. But, we have our programs on one drive and data on another(s). Intuit won't help force this? Seems like a trivial thing. Why keep the customer from being able to scan to a different location. Come on, there has to be an easy fix for this.

Use a different application. The QuickBooks is limiting the location because the log/location in the QBW file must reference a static location; being the same folder where the company file is located.

You can use a different application to scan to a different location, then tell QuickBooks to add it to the Document Manager. It will then copy to the QuickBooks document folder for that company.

Thanks Spiller!  Yes, aware of that and that's what we do now. But IMO that 1) defeats the purpose of the document manager and the whole idea of transaction/entires referencing a scanned document...speed of getting the documents into the system. That whiny excuse sounds trival but, we enter a hundred invoices a day. It'd be awesome to enter, scan, move on to the next transaction. Yes this means I even whine about even needing to open up the document manager in the first place LOL, give me a "quick scan attach" button in the transaction).

Lastly, 2) Space on the program drive. I don't wany ANY new files located on our program drive.

I appreciate the idea though, thank you for responding.

The location of the file can be changed. Unfortunately QuickBooks default location is not definable in the application or upon installation. If you are using a secondary drive and wish to have the file moved...

Create a QBB backup and then restore it AND the document folder to your desired location.
