I checked the irs web refund status for a few of my clients, there is one showing under review but there is another showing that there is a delay in processing the return does that means they both are being audit, I'm mainly concern with the one showing
a delay. It is a regular 1040 with no itemize or anything so any ideas as to why there is a delay
Does it have EIC on it?

Renee.... it could be anything... but probably not an audit.... simple tax returns are pretty much verified by cross matching routines so audits are very rare... more common would be a check for tax liens, etc.
Sometimes the IRS will pull one that has EIC on it for a manual review before they finish processing it. It usually delays it 1 - 2 weeks as long as everything looks okay to them.
Many years ago, IRS delayed processing my own return (the first year I started my home office) and took their time going over everything. They finally decided everything was OK, on the 44th day after April 15th -- just in time to avoid paying me interest! If only I'd known then that they were going to do that, I'd have told them to apply the overpayment to the first estimate of the new year.
But anyway, the delay didn't mean an audit.
Everything is ok I offer bank products only to collect my funds not the 24 hours refunds....I see where the delay return has a deposit so thats great for my client but for the other one he must have owed someone cause he only received a lil over 200.00 so thanks you guys......
