The solution
QB usually uses the most recent template used. if you use your default, when you create a new transaction, that is what should pop up.

Thank you for the information, my issue was that I was tampering with creating a new template, and did not actually save any transactions. When I did as you suggested it worked exactly as you described. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
