The Default email reminder shows "click here" with the usual underline hyperlink, but when I customize the form using %recLink% it shows as this: https:quickbase.com.....
what am I missing to make sure it shows the hyperlink and NOT the web address?

I'm assuming that you are referring to an email notification instead of a reminder, i'm making that assumption because a reminder doesn't have the default "click here". You can accomplish the same thing in an email notification by using a little HTML and under Custom Message Options select Yes where it says "Interpret Custom Message as HTML:".
Here is the HTML you can use to mimic the same default message:
Click <a href="%dbid%?a=dr&rid=%recID%">here</a> to see this store in QuickBase.
