Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. Deceased Taxpayer

Mother passed away and the son is the administrator. Mom has a federal refund. Is Form 1310 required? Instructions seem to indicated that you only need to attached the court certificate.

Your right. No need to file 1310. Just attach a copy of certificate that shows their appointment.

If there was no court appointment, Form 1310 would be required and a copy of the death certificate would need to be attached.  Is this correct?
