Good Morning - If you are asking about the date signed by the preparer all you have to do is enter the date your are going to sign the return.

If you are asking about the date by the taxpayer and spouse signature these are field towhich we do not have access.

Virgil,

You seem to know a little about this so I will ask you.  I have had a problem getting dates to freeze and I also have some trouble gettting amount to freeze after I have prepared return.  When I open it again if I accidentally change anything then my file copy no longer matches my filed copy.

Do you know how to make amounts freeze on return and dates freeze on return.

Thanks,

I believe he means when you go back to print the return at a later date, the prepared date changes. I right click to override the date and have to do the same for the state return. Is there an easier way?

I found that the signature line date does change or update to the current date, if you decide to print a copy of the return at a later date. What I do to freeze the date is use the override function on the signature date field. I override the date to the actual date that the final return printed. With the overide in place, the date field will be red and never change, should I decide to re-print at a later date. I hope that helps.

I use the Client Status sheet for all my returns. So if I ever have to print a return paper copy after the real completion date, I see what that date was and I override it like every else has stated. But I don't do it unless I need another copy.

Sounds like this question was kind of frozen in time.

I do not know how to "freeze" the date. However, you can stop the date from printing in the signature line.

Tools > Options > Firm/Preparer Info... Uncheck the box "Print date on return?"
