I have QuickBooks Enterprise v.12 R5, which again includes a Data Condense feature. However, after running a data condense & "eliminating" 2 years worth of detail, the size of my data file remains unchanged! Is the new "condense" function supposed to reduce the master file size, the same way the prior to 2007 version did ?
That's interesting. I just condensed a file with inventory to all but the current year (2012) and the condensed file was 30% of the original file size.
Apparently I didn't go far enough, not realizing that if you check the box provided, to get a list of items that won't condense, that is all the farther the process goes. If you check the box, NO DATA CONDENSE OCCURS. You are only provided with the report of what items will not condense, but no where is this pointed out in the dialog box. Users take note. P.S. - The data condense works well, once you understand the process. Glad to have this capability again
