Daily Sales Summary

How come there is no help file for daily sales summary in QB Pro 2009. Is this a glitch, or does QB not want people using this feature. Also, there is a lot of talk on the Intuit forums about a daily sales summary form for download, this is also not available from Intuits website.

I am in desperate need of documentation on help with QB Pro for people who do not track sales by individual customer, as I do not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. When you put daily sales summary in the help menu the only topic that comes up is view sales receipts in the undepositied funds register and when you try and click on it it goes nowhere. I am alos looking for the daily sales summary form to download and can not find it either. Please someone help us with this issue.

I have 2010 Premier up and running right now and there is something like 15 topics for "daily sales summary", but I'll see if I can't help this along.

The Daily Sales Summary is a type of Sales Receipt you can create by starting with Customers/ Enter Sales Receipt and choosing Daily Sales Summary from the little drop down menu upper right corner.  You'll need to have created a batch customer for cash sales, something like Cash Sales.  The total at the bottom is the amount of cash sales for that day and your deposit which you will probably want to make sure is posting to Undeposited Funds.

Maybe the form being mentioned is one of the custom sales receipt forms you can download in the Community Library that changes some of the cosmetic features.

Does that help you get started?

QB Pro 2009 does not have "Daily Sales Summary" in the drop down on the top right hand corner.

Responding to a comment below, yes, when you type "sales summary" into the help search box (I have QB Pro 2010), 15 results come up. But when you actually get to the information provided under "sales summary", you are taken to a page with the heading

"Enter Daily Sales", but all of the information is missing. Nothing but a "See Also" section. I would also like the information that is missing. Try it. Follow the first search result "Enter Daily Sales" Nothing.

No drop down "Daily Sales Summary" in top right hand corner in QB Pro 2010 either.

I'm not sure if this will help or not, but I had a POS system that did not integrate with my Quickbooks so I had to enter my sales by hand.  This can be done daily, weekly, or monthly depending on your need.  What I did was enter a total for each type of sale (taxable, nontaxable) in a Customer Receipt. I did one for Cash Sales and one for Credit Card Sales. If you are looking for a daily report, just use the Sales Summary Report and limit the date to the day you want. As for a daily close-out sheet, when I used one it was one I created and just filled in as I counted drawers, receipts. etc.

Hope this was useful, and good luck!

In retail QB is very weak. I started a year ago and there was posts about a link for the template, but the links were all dead and no template. So several posts suggested to make your own template by using a memorize transaction. This has worked very well. I'm in retail health food, so you set up the items you will be filling in (every type: ie. clothing; chilled; freezer, etc till you get every one from your z-tape in the LISTS) Then(I'm doing this from memory, so it may not be complete, but it should help till I can get in front of QB and articulate the "actual" steps) then you create a new daily sales and put in the List items in the order of your Z-Tape is listed)(List only the mostly used ones and the occasional (like gifts in my case ) can be put in the day a gift happens. Leave the dollar amount blank for each line item and then Memorize this template. Then set the template to be auto created each time you open QB (several options here) and it will create a filled items but blank numbers for however many days you have it programed to auto enter. The pain is you have to synchronize the number sequence and get the hang of that, cause it will auto number them for you and if the sequence is wrong then you will have to delete each one and start QB again to auto input. You cant tell QB to put them in manually(at least I couldn't figure that part out)(It works but is a bit messy to get used to. I'll fill in the blanks of how I did it if anything needs clarifying.

This used to be available for download.

If you work with a ProAdvisor, they should be able to send you one.

How do I work with a proAdvisor - I'd really like to have the templates. Seems like these should be available to customers through online support.
