Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! CUSTOMER TYPE?

US QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions : 10.0: Accountant

Why is it that there no Customer Type Column in Displaying Sales by Item Detail? We really need it...Is there a way to display it? I am using Q.B Enterprise Sol. Acct. 10.

I don't see that as an option in the Modify Report window.  However, Customer Type is available as a filter setting.  You could run several reports, each filtering for one particular customer type.  Would that help?
