If you are referring to the fields while you are in Layout Designer, they are just place holders. Don't worry about the text that appears there. It is just there to show you what it will look like. The correct information is fed from the customer data that you entered when you created their name/account in the Customer List , or when you make the choices on the invoice itself in QuickBooks.

Thanks for you reply,

I am referring to the layout designer.  I am trying to make custom fields work to my needs but some of them see to have imbedded info.  Is there a way to change that?

I guess I am not understanding. Can you do a window capture using Grab (in the Utilities folder on your hard drive), save it as a jpg, mark it up if needed, and post it here?

Are the fields with drop down menus originally something different? i.e. Terms, REP, or Ship Via? If so, these are tied into the appropriate lists and will have a dropdown menu to select from. There is no changing that. There are only a limited amount of fields available for "Other" things. In theory, the field customization would be to re-label the fields, not change their function.

I suppose you could use the fields as you wish, but it requires a bit of creativity. Take the "Event Location" field: if this were originally the "Ship Via" then all you would do is enter your venues in the list and then select from the drop down menu as needed, etc.

That answers my question.  Those particular fields cannot be changed.  I will use the ship Via and have my most visited locations in there.

Thanks
