Critical Service Notice -- Intuit QuickBooks Time Tracker

After much consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue QuickBooks Time Tracker effective December 1, 2011. We know this decision impacts your business and we want to provide options that we hope assist you in making the best choice.

Help through the transition:
First, your time tracking data is safe. You will continue to have access to QuickBooks Time Tracker until December 1, 2011. This will give you the time you need to sync your time data and find a new time tracking solution.

During this time, we are offering the following assistance:

•    Free service for existing customers. From October 6, 2011 until December 1, 2011, QuickBooks Time Tracker services will be provided free of charge, allowing you time to test and migrate to another solution.

•    Free Trial. eBillity Time Tracker & Billing Manager is extending a free trial to allow you to test their solution and ensure it’s right for your business.  eBillity, a global time tracking solution provider since 2007, has launched a new product, eBillity Time Tracker and Billing Manager, with comparable features to you current offering. To learn more about eBillity, please visit the Intuit Application Center.

•    Data access. After December 1, 2011, your time tracking data will no longer be accessible. Please be sure to download your data files. You can learn how here.

Our Continuing Commitment
We’re available to work with you in the coming weeks to make this transition as easy as possible. While we regret that we can no longer offer QuickBooks Time Tracker we hope you’ll find that either QuickBooks Online Plus or eBility Time Tracker & Billing Manager provides a good replacement solution.   Learn more.

Click here to learn more about the shutdown and suggested solutions.  For technical and general questions about the discontinuation of QuickBooks Time Tracker please contact care.

Thank you again for you supporting Intuit and QuickBooks Time Tracker.

Sincerely,

Judd Jacobs
Intuit QuickBooks Time Tracker

This sucks. You should be improving the product, not killing it. As a core part of my business, it makes me question my commitment to QuickBooks.

Next thing you know, they'll be cancelling the ability to email invoices to customers too.

I  know this is not easy for your business to digest.  We did identify an alternative solution in eBillity, which has a very similar feature set and a few new features that we never had in our solution.

Judd,

Regrettably, we spent several hours on the phone today with QuickBooks support regarding this.  We wanted to try eBillify, only to be told that both eBillify and TimeTracking cannot be up and running at the same time. In the meantime, a Level 2 Support engineer changed some settings that forced us to have to re-issue Time Tracking invitations. We also found out that our company is listed twice in your database, that we have two Sync Managers running, and that can not be changed.

We have enjoyed using QuickBooks for many years but at this point we will be looking to switch accounting systems after we close out the year. We will advise our 60+ clients that they too should consider a change.

Take care.

I am very sorry about this experience.  I do believe that you can use both eBillity and our solution at the same time during this period.  I will have someone look into this for you along with the other problems you are reporting.

It may be that one can indeed use Time Tracker and eBillity at the same time.  That is not what Level 2 Time Tracker support told us nor was the separate Level 2 engineer able to get eBillity to work on our system.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the only reason Quickbooks is recommending ebility is because they are paying you 30% of the revenues they collect. Those are the terms of the your newest variation of your "partner program" - and they're the only vendor that's been bullied into signing up for it. All true - right?

There are other time tracking solutions that are part of our partner programs - e.g. BigTime.  We simply thought that the eBillity solution was closest in functionality to what we offered in our time products.

C'mon Intuit!  We just switched to Time and Billing Manager last year becuase you discontinued TimeTracker.  Now, just a year later, you are discontiunuing Time and Billing Manager too?  What gives?  Your customers have spent many hours making the transition at significant cost to productivity.  Abandoning this program now is unacceptable and shows a serious lack of concern for for your customers.  My company will abandon QuickBooks just as soon as we can find a resonable alternative. Thanks alot.

Time Tracker is being discontinued as of December 1st.  The same goes for Time and Billing Manager which was another offering aimed to solve the same business problem.  Each offering will continue to work until that date.

Are you kidding me????????????  Less than two months notice?  This is a JOKE.  Why the rush?  You have NO idea how difficult it is to implement and train employees on a new timesheet system on such short notice.  You've just lost a customer.  I will be looking for a different accounting software system.  I am done with Intuit and your lack of customer service...

Santoka -

I can only imagine the impact this has on your business and appreciate your frustration toward the process.  Discontinuing a service never has an ideal timeline.  I appologize for the hassle this causes you.

I don't understand why Intuit is giving up on this utility.  Sure it has it's bugs, but on a whole it's working fine for my business and employees.  Are you losing money on this utility?  Is it that you cannot get all the bugs worked out and you are just giving up on it?  WHY are you referring us to a third-party company that is not even ready with their product?  And how are they ever going to get their product to work with your software, when YOU can't even get your own utiilty to work with your own product??   I believe I speak for ALL the users that we desperately need MORE than 60 days notice to find and switch to a new product. Please keep in mind that we are not just "Time & Billing" customers, we are Quickbooks customers.  One of the main reasons I have stayed a Quickbooks customer is this utility.   I have also recommended MANY clients to Quickbooks over the years and this decision on your part is a grave mistake.

I know this timeline is tough for your business and your reputation for recommending this service may be impacted.  Please know how difficult this is for us given the sentiments you and others have shared.

Have you tried eBillity?  Please let us know what your experience has been like.  Thanks.

Fuddruckus, here's how my experience with eBillity has been.  Really, please pass on my thanks to Intuit for endorsing such a sub-par company.
