Create Portable file permissions

US QuickBooks Premier : 2012: Retail

I have a client that recently upgraded from QB2007 to QB2012, multi-user with a server installation. They are attempting to create their first portable file and get a message only user "Front Desk" can do it. No user "Front Desk". Admin can't doit

it may be a Windows security issue. see the article on folder permissions

Afterremoting into their pc, it turns out that Front Desk was not a user but the host name of the pc. After reading some other post I had them copy the QB file for the server to their local pc and make the portable file from that file. I also instructed them to delete the file from their pc once they were finished.
