Create a new payroll payment method

QuickBooks UK : Pro 2012

How can I record my payroll payment method as BACS (in reference to internet banking transfer)? Selecting BACS uses a different process, which I don't want, but if I select cash or cheque this is printed on the payslip! I need a new payment method that tells my staff they are paid via internet banking.

Many thanks.

I do not think you are going to be able to do this. There is no way that I can see of editing the list of payment types. I suggest that you select cheque as the closest approximation to the actual payment method, and hope that Intuit are watching this conversation and decide to add 'Internet' as an option here.

That just isn't good enough - this information is printed on the payslip (and I can't remove it from there).  It is not acceptable to tell my staff I am paying them in a way I am not!

Either we should be able to edit the payment methods, or edit the payslip to remove the erroneous payment method indication.

I simply can't be the only person who pays their staff through online banking and uses quickbooks!!

many thanks for confirming my suspiciojns, however.

Update: I phoned the support line and they said there is a way of doing it, but they wouldn't tell me unless I took up a rolling monhtly support plan!  Given that I only have the one question, I feel pretty aggrieved at being asked to pay for the answer to a question that really should be in the documentation.

At least I now know there is a way, so I will have to hunt it out myself.  I don't appreciate having to waste my time doing this, however.

I don't think that selecting BACS does anything you don't want it to do. When you select BACS as the payment method for an employee it asks for a bacs agency.  Tell it the agency is your bank/current account. Then the payments to employees will be recorded in the bank account that you named. The payment method will be shown as BACS. I suggest that you try this first in a copy of your live data or an another data file. Run a payroll for an employee and then pay them. John

 Hi Johnm,

I did try that first (and had a [removed] of a job rolling it back).  Unfortunately, it doesn't work as you described, as you end up with a single payment in your bank account credited to the same bank account (so it gets really upset).

All I really need is to remove the payment method entirely from the payslip, but for some reason that escapes me, the payslip seems to be the one form you can't edit!

Really, you removed 'h.e.l.l'? Is that what constitutes an expletive nowadays?  What happens if I want to talk about heaven and [removed]?!!
