Within QuickBooks under File>>Utilities>>Convert you will find "From Quicken". Just follow the steps.

JUST BE CERTAIN TO HAVE SAVED AN ADDITIONAL COPY OF YOUR QUICKEN DATA BEFORE YOU BEGIN IN CASE YOU HAVE PROBLEMS DURING THE CONVERSION PROCESS !

Best of Luck !

Thank you - thats very helpful.

Just one question - will this conversion bring me detailed transactions or just account and vendor balances. I have a client who would like her 2009 transactions to be carried over and I am not familiar with how this would work in this case.

The solution

My experience has been that transactions are imported for the most part along with your relevant lists.  You may have some transactions that will not map properly so you will need to produce reports in Quicken and then compare/contrast those to reports you produce in QuickBooks after the 'data transfer'.

Certain transactions relating to Quicken features that do not correspond to any QuickBooks feature (such as Investments and their calculations/valuations) can not be brought over to my knowledge, so again you will need to make journal entries in QuickBooks to create opening balances that summarize those transactions.  At least that was the case when I did a similar conversion between Quicken 2007 and QB2009.

Hope this helps, please mark your question as 'solved' if this answers your questions.

Best of luck !
