Does anyone have experience converting industry specific software into QB? I'm working with a contractor that's using a COBRA software which has Access as the underlying database. I need someone to help me or do it for me.
I have extensive Access experience and, obviously, am a QB ProAdvisor certified in Enterprise. Did you complete the conversion? If not, how long of a transition are you planning on? I would anticipate you would run the systems in parallel until 12/31/07 if the client is a calendar year end client.

No worries. Did you help your client assess whether QB Enterprise would be sufficiently robust? Which was the bigger factor do you think? Did they stick with their existing software instead of transitioning because of the cost, complexity, or difficulty of retraining personnel?
It was a long and complex decision (for them, not me). They were fully aware of the abilities of QB Enterprise, etc. but in the end decided to stick with Cobra because they were afraid of the learning curve with QB. I told them there was very little, but they felt that because they never fully took the time to get trained in Cobra (over the course of 7 years), they should really get themselves up to speed and give it a fair shake. I respect their decision but feel very bad for the functionality they are missing out on. Cobra is a very difficult software to use and has poor reporting ability, which was exactly what they needed.
In our 20+ years of support we realized early that the solution is not always Software or Hardware it is "Managementware". Processes and procedures need management to support solution changes. If management does not support process changes then software or harware changes will have little chance of making a difference.
