conflicting 1099 reports

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2011

I’m not able to print out any 1099 forms for 2011.  Even though step 3 (Review your 1099 data: run report) shows that I have 1099 vendors that are above the threshold, when I then go to step 4, I’m told that I don’t have any 1099 vendors that have reached the same threshold.

To test it out, I ended up running the 1099 summary report from two different ways in my QB, and I got different results:

Test #1:

File - print forms - #3 Review your 1099 data: run report

Result: Yes, there are 1099 vendors that have reached threshold.

Test #2:

Reports - vendors and payble - 1099 summary

Result: No, there are no 1099 vendors that have reached threshold.

I’m looking at both reports side by side. It’s for the same period, and everything looks the same, but one  says I do and the other say I don’t have any 1099 to report… very strange!

Please help.

WalterL,

For Test #2 open the report and under 1099 options change to Ignore Thresholds and see if this reports matches your report in Test #1.

Threshold had no impact. However, switching between "only 1099 accounts" and "all allowed accounts" makes the difference. How do I make the printing of the  forms use "all allowed accounts" so I'll be able to print the forms?

The solution

Walter,

Go to Edit>Preferences>Tax:1099>company preferences tab>highlight box 7 and click the drop down arrow and select multiple accounts.  Then, check mark all accounts that you are using for 1099 vendors and recreate the report.  The report will now include all 1099 accounts which you use for 1099 vendors.

Contact any ProAdvisor directly by clicking on their links if you need detailed assistance or continue asking questions in the forum.

Please mark the post Solved (if this helped), and click the "thumbs up", (if this resolves your issue), PLEASE post additional information.
