Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

computer freezes up when I try to export accountant's copy changes

When I "view/export" changes from my accountant's copy for my client, the computer freezes up at the screen "Loading Changes". I have 2009 QB Premier working in Windows XP Professional.

I am having the exact same problem, there are many changes and I believe that the PDF file is too large.  Is there anyway to by-pass the creation of the PDF file?

How long did it freeze? Use the Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) to see if the program is still active. If you have many entries, it can take 30+ minutes, so let it run. I had 3,800, which is a VERY bad idea. It is common to have increasing numbers of entries not restore as the number of entries gets larger. There are reports of close to a 25% drop out, though I had very few. The "freeze" time is very memory and network dependent. Do it in single user mode, on a local computer, with good main memory and free disk space. I had 3g main memory and 400g of disk space, and a 85m QBA file. It created a 5m QBY change file.

Do not make my mistake of printing or creating a PDF of changes. The PDF failed and the print to 389 pages. Update to the latest release of QuickBooks, as QuickBooks did this more often with QuickBooks 2010 R6 and earlier. Do not try to use Accountant Copy with QuickBooks versions earlier than 2009. If those versions have one error, in changes, they abort imports instead of processing valid entries.

Turn off automatic updates and all extra programs. Try it on a second computer, as this can relate to a corrupt QuickBooks install or corrupt QuickBooks PDF creator. It also can relate to a corrupt data file. All of that applied to me. You cannot do a File, Utilities, Rebuild in an Accountant Copy, so do a regular local backup and restore, and use the restored file. THEN do a portable file backup and restore and, again, use the local file. You, like me, may not be able to do this in reverse order.

The good news is that none of this seemed to damage the QuickBooks file, so we could not use it.  You also may want to consider converting the Accountant Copy to a QBW file. You can then manually add the new entries in the other file. In my case that would have been better.if the merge did not work.

If all else fails, update to the soon to be available QuickBooks 2011. I do not have a reason to expect 2011 to be better, but new versions often are better. More important, an error that shows up in an upgrade is eligible for free QuickBooks Data Recovery, when done through a QuickBooks ProAdvisor. You also might use this as a reason to become a QuickBooks ProAdvisor even if you do not have a QuickBooks consulting practice. That gives you QuickBooks Premier, plus the best unlimited Intuit QuickBooks support and much more, for a highly discounted $449 until 8/22. The it is $524. However, that increase probably means that QuickBooks prices will soon rise again. Alternatively, use me as a consultant, as I have had a reputation for QuickBooks errors and repair procedures since 1997,
